Leadership and Teamwork
About The Course
The Undergraduate Level-4 (Leadership and Teamwork) and Level-5 (Extended Diploma in Management) are intensive 240-credit programmes that aim to accelerate students’ progress to the last year of an associated Undergraduate degree in Leadership and management. These programmes can be pursued on campus or through distance learning at a UK university.
The Level-4 modules and assignments in this course are equivalent to the coursework of the first year of a university degree. Similarly, the Level-5 modules and tasks are identical to those of the second year of a university degree.
The course comprises 20 modules, with 10 modules at Level 4 (120 credits) and 10 modules at Level 5 (120 credits). Each level requires the completion of 10 written assignments. By only focusing on Level 4 studies, a student can accumulate 120 credits and become qualified to request an exemption from the initial year of a university degree programme.
Each module has around 40 hours of supervised material and an extra 30 to 50 hours of optional material. The materials encompass recommended exercises, recommended readings, and internet resources.

| Managing People in Organisations | Efficiently overseeing personnel within a company is crucial to accomplish the organisation’s goals. Individuals constitute the paramount asset of the organisation, and it is imperative to comprehend and honour their requirements. |
| Culture and the Organisation | Culture refers to the shared beliefs, customs, values, and behaviours characterising a particular group or society. What concepts or ideas do you link to the concept of culture? Culture encompasses art, music, values, beliefs, language, communication, and behaviour. According to Terpstra and David (1991), culture is a collection of symbols taught and shared among members of society, serving to unite and identify them. |
| Developing Personal Skills | A manager in a contemporary business must possess a diverse set of abilities. The manager must possess strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with individuals effectively. This may encompass diverse proficiencies in communication, leadership, fostering collaboration, active listening, and other related areas. |
| Effective Communication | Throughout a typical day, a manager is expected to motivate team members, communicate updates regarding their future work or conditions, participate in formal meetings, engage in casual conversations at communal areas such as the water cooler or coffee machine, analyse strategic plans devised by senior management, correspond with customers or suppliers via email, and conduct online research. |
| Systems Analysis and Design | This subject comprehensively comprehends information systems concepts and their relevance to organisational requirements regarding business operations and information transformation. |
| ManagingEWthically | Regrettably, determining the precise definition of ‘appropriate conduct’ can often be challenging. Consider, for instance, a corporation that generates enormous garbage within its production. The closure of the factory will have detrimental effects on both the employees and shareholders, as well as lead to a decrease in the financial resources within the local community. Failing to mitigate waste will harm the ecosystem for the immediate population and future generations. |
| Performance Management | The success of an organisation hinges upon the individuals comprising it. Take a minute to contemplate any organisation – while doing so, you will inevitably consider individuals. Every organisation consists of individuals, and the prosperity of the organisation is mainly attributed to those individuals. |
| Strategic Human Resource Management | Human Resource administration involves effectively administrating the organisation’s most valuable asset – its workforce. The organisation’s potential is constrained without the presence of individuals. The machines depend on human operators for their functioning, even if they are automated machines that require programming by a person. Converting the essential ingredients into a marketable product necessitates the involvement of individuals. Computers require human operators. |
| High-Performance Teams | Amidst constant transformation, unpredictability, and intricacy, achieving exceptional results inside an organisation necessitates a combination of varied abilities and backgrounds. Organisations acknowledge that this combination is most effectively accomplished through collaborative teamwork. |
| Leadership Skills | Effective leadership is crucial for achieving success in both corporate and governmental sectors. Today, the recognition of leadership as a skill to be cultivated has emerged due to the rapid and continuous changes in the competitive landscape, technological advancements, and shifting economic situations. |
| Motivating and Influencing People | Consider two teams engaged in identical tasks. The manager could inquire about the methodology for accomplishing a sequence of actions to generate a product or service. The manager is responsible for strategising the workflow, ensuring the availability of necessary resources for the teams, assigning tasks and deadlines to individuals, and monitoring progress once the job commences. However, it is doubtful that the two teams will operate at the same pace, produce products of equal calibre, or exhibit the same work ethic. |
